Nationwide Children's Hospital

Who We Are: Nationwide Children’s Hospital began in 1892 with nine beds and a commitment to care for every child in need. Today, with more than 65 sites and over 1.6 million patient visits a year, we are still meeting that promise. We treat the sickest patients from across the country and around the world. We build research programs to assure tomorrow’s breakthroughs help children everywhere. And we train the next generation of scientists and health care professionals. Ranked in the U.S. News & World Report’s honor roll of top children’s medical centers nationally, this is our eighth consecutive year being honored.

What We Do: Nationwide Children’s Hospital cares for every child, for every reason, without regard to the family’s ability to pay. We treat everything from sprained ankles to brain tumors. Sore throats to suicide attempts. We are the world-renowned facility that attracts patients from every state in the country and more than fifty nations around the globe. Yet, we remain your hometown hospital with the help you need for the everyday challenges of childhood. We also innovate and break new ground in medicine. For example, our ambitious efforts to reduce decades of stigma surrounding pediatric mental health have helped shape a national conversation.

Why We’re Important: Our vision has always been to develop pre-eminent clinical and research programs to create the best outcomes for children everywhere. Over the years, Nationwide Children’s Hospital has grown in all dimensions–in clinical care and outcomes, in research and innovation, and in commitment to social justice and health equity. This past year-and-a-half has been a time like none before it. From a global pandemic to continued efforts to end racism and support health equity, Nationwide Children’s has stood with our patients, families and staff as we face these challenges together. When philanthropic supporters help children here, they help children everywhere.

How We Impact the Community: Nationwide Children’s Hospital is committed to improving the overall health of children. To accomplish such an ambitious goal, we cannot wait until a sick child enters our campus. Instead, we proactively reach out into the community, beyond the four walls of our hospital, to make a positive impact. We invest in building social equity in our communities, address the social determinants of health, and develop payment models to better serve unique populations of children. Our unparalleled investment in behavioral health services and research further cements our role as an ambitious champion for the well-being of children everywhere.

How You Can Help: Nationwide Children’s Hospital was started almost 130 years ago when citizens held a bake sale to raise money for children’s healthcare. Philanthropy has been part of our mission since the very first day. We are grateful for everyone who supports Nationwide Children’s through giving, volunteering, or helping to raise awareness. Every financial gift, no matter the size, truly does matter. Attending one of our community events helps raise fund and awareness. Volunteering at the hospital itself, or at an event, is vitally important. Please visit our website to see how you can make a difference in the health of children.
