What We Do: CUL creates family stabilization and economic transformation opportunities for under-resourced African American and urban families by offering relevant programs and initiatives designed to remove barriers to economic success and increase economic pathways. CUL is also a convening and collaborative partner in the community involved in influencing the progress of social justice advancement and reform.

Why We’re Important: Our coaches and experts, who come from and uniquely understand the urban community, rely on a holistic array of best practice initiatives focused on economic transformation, foundational education and family stabilization. A premier customer-driven organization, we connect with thousands of people every year with integrity, innovative solutions and a collaborative network that helps them more quickly and thoughtfully address all the crises that mark life in poverty.

How We Impact the Community: CUL clients can enter through one pathway, and have access to all of the education, resources, and experience needed to stabilize their lives and embark on their unique path to success. CUL's interconnected services and expertise include:

  • Keeping families stabilized in their homes offering financial literacy to address the racial wealth gap

  • Connecting unemployed/underemployed individuals with training and livable wage jobs

  • Supporting early learning and youth leadership

  • Expanding resources for minority and women-owned small businesses

  • Providing justice-involved individuals with service navigation

  • Addressing social determinants of health to eliminate health disparities and increase health equity

How You Can Help: CUL and other Black-led organizations who are uniquely qualified to lead change have been damaged by systemic racism and philanthropic redlining. Boldly donate and join us in fully bringing to life our social justice and economic empowerment agenda. Together, we can finally move beyond systemic racism to become a community where everyone has an equal chance to realize his, her, or their full potential.
