EAT IN! 2020
On April 25, Freedom a la Cart hosted Eat In! Columbus, an evening of interactive programs, a silent auction, delicious food and drink and meaningful connections which attracted more than 330 attendees and raised $124,000, making it the highest net profit fundraising event to-date . Known in prior years as Eat Up! Columbus, the annually sold-out event is the organization’s sole fundraiser and an essential source of funding the organization’s mission to employ and support the survivors of human trafficking.
In recent weeks, Freedom a la Cart has announced that construction has begun on its first full-service cafe + bakery and survivor resource center in downtown Columbus, scheduled to open for carryout in December 2020 at 123 East Spring Street. The Freedom a la Cart Cafe + Bakery will serve fresh-baked pastries, scratch-made meals and locally roasted coffee, as well as serving as the hub for all of Freedom’s catering and meal delivery services. In partnership with CCS Construction and Red Architecture + Planning, the flagship cafe + bakery will employ about 20 survivors, doubling the current number of survivors in Freedom’s workforce development program.
