THE CONCERT FOR US 2020

On December 17th, Harmony Project presented "The Concert for US: 2020 Virtual Edition" in place of their annual in-person concert. Like most arts non-profits, Harmony was presented with unanticipated challenges in 2020 with how to reach those who are served by programming, as well as bring the Harmony audience together. The special featured performances by Harmony's 500-voice chorus that were originally performed live at Nationwide Arena in December 2019, as well as new footage that told the story of how Harmony adapted during the pandemic. The concert featured visits with Harmony's prison arts programs, and exciting announcements for 2021. Harmony received a grant from the prestigious Arts for Justice Fund of The Ford Foundation, and a lead sponsor commitment from M/I Homes to launch a new program that will build pathways out of prison for people served by Harmony's arts programs. This new initiative will empower everyday people in playing instrumental roles in building a network of community for the women and men who are returning to free society. Harmony is also expanding its arts in prison programming to include incarcerated youth at the Correctional Reception Center in Orient, Ohio. Barbara Fant, Harmony's Artistic Director, will facilitate this new program that will develop the voices of the young men serving time by exploring creative writing, story-telling, and building community within the walls of the prison. Lastly, Harmony’ Founding Director, David Brown, has signed a contract with ABC Studios and John Legend's Get LIfted Film Company, to produce a pilot for a potential network reality series that explores harmony throughout the nation.
